On Thursday, November 16th, the Forum held another one of its great Networking Mixers at Bistro Jazziz at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The forty-seven attendees all had a terrific time. On October 22nd, the Forum held a Networking Mixer at Gatsby's in Plantation. The sixty attendees all had a terrific time. A special treat across the hall at Gatsby's was watching Miami Dolphins' Coach Nick Saban broadcast his weekly radio show to the delight of attendees. On September 21st, the Forum held an Educational Event at the Coral Springs Medical Center. The sixty attendees included eighteen health administration students. The Forum wishes to thank the panelists/speakers -- Mr. Peter Martin, Humana's Vice President for Network Management; Ms. Lori Perlman, Director of Managed Care at the North Broward Hospital District and Mr. Barry Schwartz, the Vice President for Statewide Contracting at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.

  • On June 22nd, the Forum held a Networking Mixer at Shula's 2 in Miami Lakes. The fifty attendees all had a pleasant time. In addition, eighteen SFHEF members and friends got in a round of golf beforehand at the neighboring Shula's Golf Course. Two health administration students - Demtrice Morrison and Tracy DeWeese - both received SFHEF scholarship awards that evening as well.

  • On May 25th, the Forum held an Educational Event and Dinner at the Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. Mr. Stephen L. Royal, CHE, President of HCA's East Florida Division was the featured speaker and addressed the group on Disaster Response and Preparedness. Over 100 members and guests attended and heard a very candid and insightful view of recent hurricane emergencies. Attendees reported that it was a very timely event and time well spent. The Forum wishes to thank the Aventura Hospital and Medical Center and HCA -- the Hospital Corporation of America for their generosity in sponsoring and hosting this important event. In particular, the Forum would like to thank Ms. Heather Rohan and Mr. Richard Kennedy, Aventura's CEO and COO respectively, for their hospitality.

  • On March 16th, the Forum, with co-sponsorship of the Women Healthcare Executive Network of South Florida (WHEN) and ACHE's Southern Florida Regent's Advisory Council, held the 5th Annual Student Educational and Networking Conference at Memorial Regional Hospital. The guest speaker was Frank Sacco, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer for Memorial Healthcare System. Mr. Sacco discussed "Trends in Healthcare - 2006." Over 120 members, students and guests attended and received 2 Category II ACHE credits. The Forum wishes to thank Memorial Regional Hospital for hosting the educational program for providing dinner "by the bite."

  • The Forum's Annual Installation Dinner of its 2006 Board of Directors was held on January 19 at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort. Representative Eleanor Sobel was the evening's guest speaker. Special recognition was given to Zeff Ross, Administrator for Memorial Hospital West and the American College of Healthcare Executive's Southern Florida Regent 2003-2006.
