On
December 8th, the Forum held an educational program entitled "Sarbanes Oxley - How is it Affecting both For-Profit and Not-For-Profit Healthcare Organizations?" at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise. Our panelists were:
- Thomas Rozek, President and CEO Miami Children's Hospital,
- James Petkas, Chief Financial Officer of HCA's East Florida Division,
- Anne Payne, CPA and partner with Price Waterhouse Coopers, and
- Bill Spratt, attorney and partner with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP
- Linda Quick, President of the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association was the evening's moderator.

On
November 10th, approximately 30 members and guests enjoyed the Forum's networking event at Gordon Biersh Brewery and Restaurant on Brickell Avenue in Miami. Marc Sokolowicz, Financial Analyst for Tenet Health System was the lucky winner of the gourmet basket courtesy of South Florida Surgery Center, LLC. Congratulations to Marc!

On
September 22nd, the Forum, with co-sponsorship of the Women Healthcare Executive Network of South Florida (WHEN), held an educational program entitled " Electronic Medical Records System" at the Miami VA Medical Center. Our guest speaker was Craig Davis, Assistant Chief Information Officer for Miami VAMC. Over 100 members, guests and students attended and received a "hands-on" demonstration of the VA's EMR system as well as 2 Category II ACHE credits. In addition, the proceeds of the educational event, totaling $1,000, was donated to the American Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. The Forum wishes to thank Miami VAMC for hosting the educational program and Morrison's Healthcare Food Services for providing dinner "by the bite."

On
June 17th, the Forum held a Networking Mixer at Shula's Steak 2 Bar
located in the Don Shula's Hotel in Miami Lakes. Despite the rain, 58 members, guests and students attended and had a terrific time. The winner of the gourmet basket courtesy of Jeffrey B. Kramer, CPA of Kramer Weisman and Associates, LLP, Certified Public Accountants & Consultants was Dr. Alan Whiteman of Barry University. Congratulations to Alan! We also wish to thank Florida Open Imaging Center for underwriting the cost of the hors d'oeuvres for the evening.

January 20th, the Forum's Annual Installation Dinner of its 2005 Board of Directors was held at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort. Linda Quick, Executive Director of the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association was presented with the Forum's 2005 Community Leader Award. Over 100 healthcare professionals attended the event.
